Show Me The Fuel Refund

Deleting Your Data

Last updated: September 5, 2026

Every piece of data this app creates is already under your control — it lives on your device, and optionally in a cloud storage account you own. There's no server of ours holding a copy, so there's nothing you need to request from us. This page explains how to delete all of it yourself.

Where Your Data Lives

There are only two places to check, and you have direct access to both:

If you never connected cloud storage, the first section below is all you need.

Delete Everything on Your Device

  1. Open the app and go to the Settings tab.
  2. Tap Data.
  3. Scroll down and expand Advanced.
  4. Tap Purge All Data, then confirm.

This permanently removes every vehicle, fuel entry, and receipt photo stored on the device, leaving the app as though it were freshly installed.

This can't be undone. If you want to keep a record of your fuel purchases first, generate a PDF from the Reports tab and share or save it somewhere before purging.

Delete Only a Date Range

If you'd rather remove part of your history than all of it:

  1. Go to Settings › Data › Advanced.
  2. Under Purge Data by Date Range, pick a start and end date.
  3. Tap Purge Range, then confirm.

This deletes fuel entries and receipt photos dated inside that range across all of your vehicles. The vehicles themselves are kept.

Delete Your Cloud Backup

If you connected a cloud storage account, a copy of your data is also in that account, in a folder named Show Me The Fuel Refund. Purging on your device does not automatically remove it — that deletion only reaches the cloud the next time the app syncs.

The most direct and reliable way to remove it is to delete the folder yourself, in the cloud account you already own:

  1. In the app, go to Settings › Data and tap Disconnect so the app stops syncing to that account.
  2. Sign in to that provider directly — Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or your own WebDAV server — using its own app or website.
  3. Find the Show Me The Fuel Refund folder and delete it, along with everything inside it.
  4. Empty that provider's trash or recycle bin, since most services keep deleted files there for a period of time.

Because this folder is in your account rather than ours, deleting it there is final and complete — we never had a copy to remove.

If You Shared That Folder

If the cloud folder you connected is one you share with another person, deleting your own copy may not remove theirs. Anyone else with access to that shared folder may still have the vehicles, fuel entries, and receipt photos it contains, and may have synced a copy onto their own device.

To remove the shared copy as well, revoke the other person's access to the folder in your cloud provider's sharing settings, or ask them to delete their copy too.

Uninstalling the App

Uninstalling removes everything the app stored on that device, including its local database and any receipt photos it kept there. It does not touch anything already backed up to your cloud storage account — that stays in your account until you delete it using the steps above.

Questions

If you're unsure whether something was removed, or you run into trouble with any of these steps, email ohbrer+ShowMeTheFuelRefund@gmail.com and we'll help you work through it. Keep in mind we have no access to your data or your cloud account, so we can't delete anything on your behalf — but we can walk you through doing it.
