Envelope budgeting · Mac, Windows, Linux and your own server
The private envelope budgeting app
Every dollar a job, and your data stays home. ShowMeTheMoney runs on your own computer. Import any bank statement, even a PDF, reconcile it the way your bank does, and never hand your financial data to someone else's cloud.
No card needed for the trial. From $39 a year after that.
Built for people who want the books to balance
Envelopes, the way they're meant to work
Give every dollar an envelope, group envelopes into stacks, move money between them, and see what's ready to budget. Spending lands in the right envelope on its own, by rules you set.
Imports any statement, even PDFs
Bring in QFX/OFX, spreadsheets and PDF statements. Point at your statement once to show it where the dates and amounts are, and every month after reads itself, including statements that cover several accounts.
Reconciles like your bank
Accepting a statement checks it against your records, flags likely duplicates, and reconciles it to the cent. Reconciled transactions are locked, so last month stays last month.
Your data never leaves
Your budget lives on your computer or your own server. We never receive it. No bank password is ever asked for; an optional bank connection (through SimpleFIN) is yours to choose.
For the whole household
Run it on your own server and share it with up to four people, each with their own sign-in, across up to five books: personal, joint, a business, a rental.
Never locked out
If a subscription ever lapses, everything stays readable and exportable. Your records are yours, always.
