Terms of Service
Last updated October 25, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and OhBrer LLC ("we", "us") about your use of ShowMeTheMoney (the "Software"): the desktop app, the server version, the phone app, and their updates. By starting a trial, entering a licence key or using the Software, you agree to them.
1. Your licence
While you have an active trial or subscription, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software for one household: the people who live together and share their finances.
- One licence works on one installation at a time: one computer running the desktop app, or one server. You may move it to another installation as the Software allows.
- A subscription lets up to 4 people in your household use the installation, with up to 5 books. Larger households may be offered separately.
- You may not share a key with, or provide the Software to, anyone outside your household; host it for others; resell or sublicense it; or remove, bypass or interfere with its licence checks.
- The Software is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights not granted here.
2. Free trial
The trial lasts 30 days from when you activate the trial key we email you, and includes one book and up to 1,000 transactions; restoring a backup needs a subscription. One trial per person and per computer.
3. Subscriptions and payment
Subscriptions are billed yearly or monthly and renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles the payment, any sales tax or VAT, and your receipts; Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself. You can cancel at any time; your subscription then runs to the end of the period already paid. Refunds are covered by our refund policy. We may change prices for future periods with at least 30 days' notice by email. A founding-member price stays the same for as long as that subscription stays active without interruption.
4. Your data
Everything you put into the Software belongs to you and stays on your computer or your server. We do not receive it, cannot see it and cannot recover it for you. You are responsible for keeping backups; the Software can export each book at any time.
If your trial or subscription ends, the Software keeps your data readable and exportable; it only stops you adding or changing things until you subscribe again. We will not use the licence to delete or withhold your data.
5. Services the Software uses
The Software contacts our licence service to activate and check your licence, our update service to offer new versions, and, only if you agree, our error-reporting service. If you connect a bank through SimpleFIN, that connection is between you and SimpleFIN under their terms. Our privacy policy explains what each receives.
6. Not financial advice
The Software is a tool for recording and organising your finances. It does not give financial, tax or legal advice, and you are responsible for decisions you make with it and for checking your records against your bank's.
7. Updates and changes
We may update the Software to fix problems, improve it or keep it secure, and may change or remove features. We may change these terms; we'll post the new version here and, for material changes, tell subscribers by email at least 30 days before they apply.
8. Ending the licence
Your licence ends if your subscription or trial ends, or if you seriously break these terms (for example by sharing a key outside your household). Sections 4, 6, 9, 10 and 11 continue after it ends.
9. Warranty disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, the Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will correctly read every bank's statements.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or savings, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Software is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it.
