Who makes ShowMeTheMoney

ShowMeTheMoney, the private envelope budgeting app, is made by Oh Brer LLC, a small company in Gallatin, Missouri.

What it is

ShowMeTheMoney is a private envelope budgeting app for Mac, Windows, Linux and your own server. Give every dollar an envelope, group envelopes into stacks, and see what's ready to budget. It imports QFX/OFX, CSV and PDF bank statements, including statements that cover several accounts: point at a PDF statement once and every month after reads itself. Accepting a statement flags likely duplicates and reconciles it to the cent. Your budget stays on your computer or your server, and no bank password is ever asked for. A household can share one server with separate sign-ins. If a subscription lapses, everything stays readable and exportable.

How it's paid for

By subscriptions, and nothing else: $39 a year or $3.99 a month, after a free 30-day trial. There are no ads, and we never receive your budget, so there is nothing to sell. See pricing and the privacy policy.

What it doesn't do

Better you hear it from us:

  • No automatic bank sync of its own: statements are imported from files, and bank sync is only through SimpleFIN, a separate paid service, when you press Sync now.
  • No cloud version: it runs on your computer or a server you run.
  • US dollars only; no multi-currency support.
  • Installers are not yet signed with Apple's and Microsoft's paid certificates, so the first launch shows a warning.
  • No ARM Linux desktop (nor Alpine, musl-based or NixOS desktops); those use the server image.
